[edit] Welcome
This is another Wikia where you definitely belong. Enjoy!

[edit] Forums now work on this wiki
See Forum:Index, then please consider using separate forums for separate subjects (so that they can be easily referenced, listed, and categorised). We did this on Genealogy: and are all pleased at how much better it is than the old jumble of discussions on user talk pages or a single project:Watercooler. Robin Patterson 08:27, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Junagadh
" Is this OK for this article?? After you confirm only I will upload."
- Is WHAT OK for WHAT article? And why ask me? (I'm only a minor contributor here with no right or authority!!) Robin Patterson 07:35, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] How you deleted India page
See the change you made at http://india.wikia.com/index.php?title=India&diff=4564&oldid=4506
The one-line template you see on the original was the whole page. Instead of adding your map and other links, you substituted them, so the rest of the page disappeared. I think you have done that sort of thing before. Maybe you highlight part of a page by mistake before adding something: that deletes what was highlighted, just as it does with some wordprocessing systems.
I'm pleased to see it all fixed now.

[edit] Babel templates
Please see http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Add_Babel_templates and try to work from there. Ask me if you get stuck or need some templates or categories copied. Robin Patterson 14:03, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, you say you tried, with no luck. I just copied from the WP edit boxes (in a second window) to the India edit boxes. A red link here starting with "Template:..." is a template to copy.
- First your WP user page, just the line with the {{babel... . On your page here it said in red "Template:Babel", as I expected.
- Then I clicked that template to get its edit/creation box, then went back to your still-open WP user page (in edit mode) and clicked (near the bottom) that template; reaching its page I clicked Edit and copied the whole box, returning to paste into the India page for the template (and add the acknowledgment and edit anything specific to WP that needed to be changed for Wikia).
- Then I clicked on one of the "Template:..." links that appeared, and repeated the process.
Check my Contributions to see what a busy three hours I had.
And it's not finished, and I don't know why because I seem to have copied everything that could be needed for the English and most of what's needed for the Tamil.
"Tomorrow", perhaps. Robin Patterson 14:08, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Great work!
Hello Sir. Nice to see that you are doing great works here. I shall surly use the pictures uoloaded by you in some articles. Thanks and Regards. --Bhadani (talk) 02:46, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sikka - india. wikia
I have added the map at the side of your place template. Would it be OK? If OK, I can follow the same procedure for other places.
--Dore chakravarty 00:26, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yes Sir. Please feel free to try anything to improve India Wikia. Even the place template may be modified to make it better. By the way, how is life and your health? Best regards. --Bhadani (talk) 02:56, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] delete log
Where can I find the delete log or how can Adms. delete images or files? Please help me.
--Dore chakravarty 20:31, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Sir. Please give me the names or links to the files or images which you want to get deleted, and I shall surly try to help if the images or files may require deletion. Best regards. --Bhadani (talk) 02:47, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Uncategorised
Why Jamnagar is shown in the above is not clear.
--Dore chakravarty 20:28, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- (I've not looked at it.) Probably the same sort of reason as on the Engineering Wikia. The best solution is to go to the original if it was Wikipedia, and on to Commons: if the Wikipedia copy came from there, and go into Edit mode and copy everything in the WP or Commons edit box over to here. You may see that I have just done exactly that myself with a Forum image. Robin Patterson 11:43, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Images without HDD

[edit] Emblem of India
Please (as requested above) copy from the Commons edit box (to get the formatting and true links), not the displayed page. I'm checking what's what. Robin Patterson 05:52, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Now see my contributions for something as good, or better, that you can probably use. Robin Patterson 06:32, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
You say "My referred image is not deleted still. What do you feel?" - I don't feel anything! If something should be deleted, an admin can delete it. I hope you have looked at the main Page since I played with it again. Robin Patterson 22:16, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Damoh
I have looked at Damoh page and restored it to how User:Bhadani left it. I do not understand your reference to your name, but I doubt if it matters. Kind regards! Robin Patterson 22:56, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] You could be an administrator here
You should be able to delete images etc and "rollback" spam and vandalism without having to attract the attention of other admins, who have contributed little recently. Please see India:Requests for adminship and sign consent in the line that says "consent". Robin Patterson 00:36, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] "Help us categorise"
I do not understand your comment "Can I help you in anyway?? I could not see move earlier on pages where I have said please see etc.".
I looked at the rest of my talk page. Some of the paragraphs where you said "Please see ..." have been attended to. Others are very old so that I do not remember whether I did anything about them.
Robin Patterson 11:20, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for simplifying the "Please see..." request list. Now this latest one about "u c", which I take to mean "uncategorised". I see that you have been doing some categorising, which is probably just fine. What exactly can we help each other with? Robin Patterson 23:52, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] "Redirect"
Some of your recent edit summaries have said "Redirect". That puzzled me, because the pages looked as if we wanted articles by those names. So I looked at some. They were not "redirects" - they were just adding links to other pages, such as "History of South India". Excellent. But please just say "links" if you are just adding links, so that other editors do not get puzzled and do not feel the need to look at what you did. Robin Patterson 23:52, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
I have read your reply.
Nobody can correct an edit summary; so those ones that say "Redirect" may continue to puzzle new readers.
You also talk about "Move". When you use the "Move" order, you are renaming a page (and the software leaves the original name as a Redirect, which automatically redirects anyone who clicks on a link to that page - they go straight to the new page). You are expected to have learned that by now, but the way you were talking made me wonder.
Here's a redirect I created recently: http://india.wikia.com/index.php?title=Template:Self2&redirect=no
If you click (or the program finds) a link Template:Self2, you or it will arrive at Template:Self. At the top it says where it was redirected from. Click on that link to get back to the page that has "redirect=no" at the end of its URL.
An example of the pages your edit summaries were calling Redirect that were not redirects is South India. It says :
"Please see History of South India.
"--Dore chakravarty 04:59, 10 March 2008 (UTC) "
That's OK as far as it goes, but:
- You should not sign article pages
- The link to the history is fine, but the page will later contain much more about South India. It's not a Redirect now and it never should be. It is a page about South India, where you may quite properly have a link to an article about an aspect of the place that is too long to fit comfortably in the overall article. We have a template that does that quite nicely: Template:Main - but it usually precedes a summary of the subject so that readers who want just a summary don't have to follow the link.
Robin Patterson 11:04, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Template:User kn-1 - and related templates and categories
I think I took those as far as I could. Please compare with the Wikipedia equivalent. Robin Patterson 22:46, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Move
Please move Malayalam Language to Malayalam language to have standardisation, as is already done, and delete what is there in Malayalam Language. Can this be done please?
--Dore chakravarty 21:37, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think I did even better than that. (Will you improve your success rate at quoting links so that readers do not have to go the long way about finding what you are talking about?) Robin Patterson 03:07, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Wikimedians by age
You should be on http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wikimedians_by_age. Robin Patterson 03:07, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
I have read your response. Your relatives probably would not mind having just your year of birth put into a public page - which you did a while ago when you told us your age. If still shy about that, how about just entering your name under the decade, as another person has done? Robin Patterson 09:52, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've read your response. The page says nothing about a form (though there is mention of "format" for people who do not have user pages on Meta - that may have confused you). Go to that page (logged in) and edit it, adding three tildes after your year of birth. Robin Patterson 05:48, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Welcoming new contributors
As you may have noticed, Mr Bhadani is not doing as much on this wiki as he once did. It is therefore more important for you and me to welcome new contributors. See http://india.wikia.com/wiki/User_talk:Bhadani#123.176.41.129_-welcoming and template:welcIP and template:welc. Robin Patterson 09:52, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Festivals-photo gallery
I have no idea how to fix that problem. On my "skin", adv is never a bother. Try the Central Wikia mailing list or w:help.
[edit] Adding to main page
You could add a link to recent news to that group just above the "What can we do?" heading. Robin Patterson 02:36, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Your last edit to main page said it was adding a link; but the link was already in the line above. I removed it and the cows and monkey links while making other small improvements. Robin Patterson 08:37, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re:
Hi! I'm hoping I can take your words as a compliment ;) My main work is on Wikipedia, where I'm a principal contributor on Pirates of the Caribbean articles. Most likely because I'm a huge fan :) By the way, as per the Oxford Dictionary, the term "reels" means to either pull in a fishing catch, or to "lose one's balance and stagger or lurch violently". Not sure what you mean, either, haha. BlackPearl14Pirate Lord-ess of the Caribbean 22:58, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Last categories listed
I've seen them. Interesting. Have you checked the contributions of the article's contributor? Robin Patterson 04:36, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome template
(I have asked Mr Bhadani about the Hindi)
Testing here:
[edit] Hi there!
Welcome to our wiki, and thank you for contributing! There's a lot to do around here, so I hope you'll stay with us and make many more improvements.
- Recent changes is a great first stop, because you can see what other people have been editing right up to this minute, and where you can help.
- Please sign in, every time you edit, so that we recognise your contributions and don't have to check them.
- Questions? You can ask at the Help desk or on the talk page associated with each article, or post a message on my talk page.
- Need help? The Community Portal has an outline of the site, and links to pages to help you learn how to edit.
I'm really happy to have you here, and look forward to working with you.
Template:welc works for me, as above. {{subst:welc|Robin Patterson}}. Maybe you haven't caught up with the recent variation that requires you to paste your username after a pipe. By the way, can you add a Hindi greeting under the image or should we try Bhadani? Robin Patterson 08:35, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Talk:Integral humanism
I know nothing. Robin Patterson 02:38, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Category with new design??
I presume your query on my talk page refers to the new standard placement of categories near the bottom of the page.
Wikipedia is similar. I can understand the logic: most people want to read an article. Only a minority want to see what it is related to before they have read it. I'm getting used to it since I decided to change to the wiki default view for all wikis.
You can try other skins in your "Preferences". You can even, as an administrator, change the default setting for the whole wiki, so that people who are not logged in or have not chosen a preference will see something different. You may, for example, pick a colour scheme that is most appropriate for India's national colours.
Kind regards. --Robin Patterson 23:53, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Images from Commons
I do not quite understand your question. But it may relate to how you seem to have copied Image:Avatars.jpg: straight off the displayed page, not the edit box, resulting in no links, no templates, no categories.
I copy from Commons like this:
- Hit "Edit"
- Select complete contents of edit box and copy
- Hit "Back" to return to image
- Right-click to "Save image as..."
- Return to my wiki and hit "Upload image"
- Browse for image and get it listed in the two panels for file name
- Start the Description panel like this: "From Commons, which says:"
- Hit "Enter" once or twice for visual separation
- Paste
- Hit whatever else is needed to finish the upload
Usually there's a category already in place.

[edit] Main page seems OK
I've reversed some vandalism, right back to the last time you were logged in . Try from this if you get an email. — Robin Patterson (Talk) 23:52, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks very much. It appears OK in India and Engineering.
